Airtouch technique
AIRTOUCH IN LONDON
The AirTouch technique is unique in that it achieves a seamless colour blend by using air rather than traditional teasing and backcombing. Rather than using freehand techniques to create balayage or ombre hair, hair is parted into sections and highlighted in foils to achieve this look.
The AirTouch approach not only delivers beautiful, blended results, but it also solves one of the most significant problems that any other highlighting and lightening technique faces: retouching.
Before using a lightening chemical, the typical retouch procedure backcombed and teased parts of hair. The colourist would next use a tail comb and re-weave each piece of the hair to ensure that the highlights would not overlap with previously coloured hair as the hair grew out.
If you want a safer and lower maintenance alternative to the traditional balayage or ombre method of highlighting, the AirTouch technique is the way to go.
It is less damaging to your hair: Unlike traditional retouch methods, which may cause serious breakage and damage to previously bleached locks, the AirTouch process was developed with the purpose of gently lightening hair with minimal harm. Great results are obtained without the risk of harm caused by other highlighting procedures.
The AirTouch technique is achieved by splitting the longer strands from shorter baby hair and then lightening only one portion of the hair, simply highlighting the foil of the remaining hair. When retouching after a few months the layers can be swapped over thus preventing bleached hair to be bleached again.
The procedure mixes in seamlessly with your natural hair: While it’s nice to save time and damage, you’re lightening your hair for the results, right? AirTouch is not only a speedier and safer alternative to traditional balayage or ombre hair, but it also produces superior results. The ultimate effect is flawlessly blended, natural-looking highlights that will easily grow out.
Clients prefer AirTouch over other highlighting techniques because it is not as painful as traditional balayage. Unlike the original highlighting and lightening method, which required extensive backcombing and teasing, AirTouch uses a blow dryer to part thick from thin strands and only lighten the stronger strands of hair. The air does all the hard work of weaving out the “baby hairs,” leaving the longer sections to be highlighted.
Control the brightness results that you desire: Other highlighting and coloring techniques may not be able to adjust to a specific brightness or hue the way AirTouch can. Great news for the perfectionists out there who have their mind made up on a specific tone for their hair! By adjusting the amount of hair you blow-dry out of a specific section, your stylist can choose how light you wish for your end result to be.
Airtouch on Asian hair
Airtouch on asian hair is a real find because it allows to rebleach the same section of the hair if the desired lightness could not be achieved during the first bleaching.
Traditional highlights or balayage will not allow for this to happen as it is difficult to single out already lighted strands.
Asian hair has a lot of pigment which is harder to break and additional time can be required sometimes second bleaching can be done on a different day as well.
Airtouch regulates the amount of blond
To achieve a darker result, the stylist simply has to push more hair out at the root, causing less hair to be bleached in the foil. For a brighter or lighter tone, less hair can be pushed out of the section so more hair is left in the foil.
