Grey blending service in London
Grey blending is one of the ways to deal with grey hair.
If you started to go grey you have 3 options:
- 1
Leave the hair grey and may be even accentuate them with purple shampoo once in a while to give it cooler and more platinum look.
Usually going grey naturally suits certain colour type - WINTER. Majority of ladies who advocate going grey have olive skin and brown eyes (like George Clooney)

Option number two is to cover your greys fully with permanent dye. However the downside of this option is that most darker shades of permanent dye contain PPD or equivalents, they accumulate in the body and can potentially cause allergy or even cancer. The herbal dye can solve this problem as it does not contain any chemicals. The second downside is the maintenance, you will need to dye your hair frequently because permanent dye forms a solid demarcation line at regrowth.

And finally you can have what is called Grey Blending. The idea is to either cover greys translucently with Demi permanent dye to to have super fine highlights which will hide the appearance because the difference between highlights and greys is minor.
The idea of grey blending is in mimicking the colour of the grown roots on the length. The proportion of salt and pepper on the roots should be the same as the proportion of highlights and lowlights (or natural hair)on the length.

Grey blending allows you to leave much longer between your hair colour appointments than using permanent dye on your roots as there will be no solid demarcation line.
If you already have permanent dye on your hair and you would like to escape the cycle of dying your roots every 2-5 weeks and possibly extend it to 2-3 months you will need to go through one or more colour correction sessions. Each case is individual and some people’s transformation is faster than others, it all depends on how may layers of permanent dye you have on your hair and how many greys your hair.
Good quality products imply sulphate and silicone free shampoo and conditioner, good quality lipid (fatty) mask (not empty packed with silicone), leave-in conditioner or cream without silicones. The average price for products that work is around £200.
Sometimes if a client has layers of box dye they might need to have a few rounds of hair dye removal session, then the hair will need to have a restorative treatment and then the highlights will be applied. It is physically easier to break the process down into a few sessions.
If you have virgin hair with upto 50% greys the greys blending can be done in around 5-6 hours in one session but just applying superfine highlights throughout and a gloss.
If you are thinking about greys blending and you have some dye on your hair you must budget for good quality hair care as the bleach does have a drying effect on the hair and you want to be able to enjoy hair and not struggle with it every day.

In terms of grey blending procedures cost, it varies the colour correction cost is around £60 an hour plus materials.
There’s stylists that offer £3000 packages for the transformation that include colour transformation sessions, hair cuts, blowdries and home hair care products.

Once your grey blending process is complete and the pattern of salt and pepper and regrowth matches the colour of the length you can maintain your roots with translucent gloss or you can hair a herbal option.
If you choose a gloss or Demi permanent dye in lighter shades option be prepared that it will wash off and some greys won’t be covered sufficiently.
Grey blending with herbal mixes (henna and herbs)
After dying hair with herbal mix
If you do not like to see any greys at all, at the organic hairdresser you can have herbal grey coverage in lighter shades and have a Demi permanent dye if the colour of your choice can not be achieved with herbs alone. The herbal grey coverage option apart from it being chemical free, it is also has a unique hair colouring effect. It does not remove any pigments from the hair but only deposits pigments on the cuticle layer thus leaving the natural hair dark and covering greys in a way that it is always lighter than the natural hair which is perfect for grey blending as we don’t want to change the pattern of salt and pepper roots.
