Types of grey blending: full grey transitioning, grey blending and integration of greys

Grey blending is a very generic word for slightly different outcomes and maintenance style of greys. I would like to single out at least 3 major ways to blend greys.

First type is when someone wants to fully transition to their natural hair colour without the need of any maintenance whatsoever, no gloss, no highlighting and just become fully natural.

The second type of grey blending is done when someone is not prepared to go fully grey but is desperate to lower the maintenance of their hair colour, instead of dying roots every 3 weeks they would be happy to be able to extend it to 6 weeks. Or instead of dying it every 5-6 weeks to visit their grey blending expert every 3-4 months.

The third type is for people who accepted the look of grey hair but want to give it a more sophisticated look by inserting baby lights in strategic places to create a more balanced look. This type is called the integration of greys and the client can maintain it once a year or even less frequently.

Full transition to greys looks amazing on winter colour type people (George Clooney is a typical representation of that type). After the grey blending procedure the maintenance will be required until the previously dyed part of the hair get completely grown out and cut off. All because the previously dyed part will look warmer after some time than the part which is close to the roots. Sometime washing it at home with blue and purple shampoo is sufficient. For all people who go for grey blending I recommend to use hair growth serum and vitamins enhancing hair growth to cut off all the over processed lengths and ends as soon as possible!

People who are not fully ready to embrace their greys but are tired of frequent root touch ups after the grey blending process being complete can have their greys maintained with demi permanent dye, gloss or herbal mixes in lighter shades. It is a good solution for darker haired people with lots of greys who do not want to become blonds or anyone with autumn or spring warm colour type who perhaps wanted to transition to greys but their complexion does not benefit from cool greys framing the face. The colours for the maintenance should not be overly saturated with pigment: light brown, cool beige, golden, strawberry blond, dove grey.

Integration of greys is for clients who accepted the greys but want a more polished balanced look as greys don't always grow evenly. It is achieved  with geometrically calculated airtouch technique for maximum balance and longevity where the pattern of baby lights is done with the view of future regrowth where future greys will be built into the pattern of baby lights. The maintenance can be done once a 12-18 months, partial correction (top section and face frame) can be done every 6 months if the client wishes! This method is gentle on the hair as the correction might be carried out in the different layer of the hair that has not been lightened before.
